The valley is sealed off through the Cascade Array to the northeast and from the Klamath Mountains to the northwest. In the much north the terrain is rugged and greatly forested, starting to be wetter within the coastal side and drier and barren in the higher northeast. From the south the Central Valley is closed off with the transverse ranges, mos
